Twitter storm on public CBCR, ahead of European Parliament debate

Global Alliance for Tax Justice's regional network member Eurodad is organizing a Twitter action on public CBCR, ahead of European Parliament debate on amendments: the European Parliament's ECON and JURI committees will be holding a hearing on their amendments to the draft report tomorrow from 11.30 - 12.30 Brussels time. You will be able to follow the hearing live here from European Parliament.

The European Parliament has published its draft report earlier this year, which is a very strong text. And on Wednesday 3 May, MEPs will consider amendments to the CBCR draft report. The amendments which have been submitted by some of the political groups in the European Parliament could fundamentally change the final result in Parliament, and potentially bring the proposal closer in line with what the European Commission originally proposed.

Take action! To ensure our message is heard loud and clearly by MEPs, a coordinated twitter storm is organized on Tuesday 2 May at 12.00 (CET - Brussels time). This is crucial to show there is public pressure from civil society ahead of the vote.

The tweeting will be coordinated through the www.endsecrecy.eu website - which allows users to tweet their MEPs and also includes useful resources on the case for public CBCR

Please tweet your (national) MEPs:

  • Go to Eurodad's website EndSecrecy.EU
  • Scroll down to the pictures of key European Parliamentarians who are now discussing and deciding on whether to be for or against public CBCR. We've made it very easy, the tweets are already written for you (and you can tweet in English or the native language of the MEPs)
  • Click the Tweet button below each MEP to tweet your (national) MEPs

Please feel free to get as many individuals from your organisations involved, as well as other organisations in your country!

Thank you and happy tweeting!
