[ENGLISH] The COVID-19 pandemic upended economies and continues to cause unprecedented and devastating impacts on lives and livelihoods around the world, especially in the Global South. The recovery measures put in place has seen a resurgence of fiscal consolidation across many Global South countries with the International Monetary Fund promoting austerity policies. This exacerbates inequalities and threatens to undermine the progress achieved in promoting education over the last years due to the reduced resources available for public services such as quality public education. As part of the\u00a0<\/span>Global Days of Action on Tax Justice for Women’s Rights 2022<\/b>, the members of the\u00a0<\/span>TaxEd Alliance<\/b>\u00a0invite you to this discussion about the importance of progressive taxation to finance education and how the international financial institutions could advance it.<\/span><\/p>\n

[ESPA\u00d1OL]\u00a0<\/span>La pandemia del COVID-19 afect\u00f3 dr\u00e1sticamente a las econom\u00edas y sigue causando impactos devastadores y sin precedentes en las vidas y los medios de subsistencia de todo el mundo, especialmente en el Sur Global. Las medidas de recuperaci\u00f3n puestas en marcha han supuesto un resurgimiento de la consolidaci\u00f3n fiscal en muchos pa\u00edses del Sur Global, con el Fondo Monetario Internacional promoviendo pol\u00edticas de austeridad.
