REPORT<\/b><\/p>\n

ActionAid’slatest report ‘<\/span>Double jeopardy: Violence against women and economic inequality<\/span><\/i>‘ draws on research from<\/span>\u00a0Uganda, Cambodia, India and Brazil<\/b>. This report highlights the way that women and girls are oppressed and exploited \u2013 including for economic gain \u2013 through the patriarchal structures and systems that permeate the modern global economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The report shows how the violence and economic exploitation women and girls face in society are intrinsically linked as a\u00a0<\/span>perpetual reinforcing cycle<\/b>. This situation has not come about by accident, but is a product of conscious policy choices to advance favoured economic development strategies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our panel of speakers will draw from the report and their professional and personal experiences to highlight how\u00a0<\/span>dominant global macroeconomic structures exploit and perpetuate women\u2019s economic inequality<\/b>\u00a0and increase women\u2019s exposure to violence. They will also discuss key strategies and opportunities for ending VAWG and transforming our economies so they work for women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n
