This practice continues to draw criticism in the face of mounting requirements for financial institutions to \u2018know their customers,\u2019 and among foreign policy experts who fear a growing kleptocracy. What is the proper policy response to an area where financial regulation, national security, foreign policy, and global business converge?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On March 30, the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/center\/center-on-regulation-and-markets\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Center on Regulation and Markets<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0at Brookings will host Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) for keynote remarks on efforts to end the use of anonymously owned corporations. A panel of experts and regulators will follow his keynote remarks.
