Please find additional details\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.globaltaxjustice.org\/en\/blog\/africa-media-training-programme-2017\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as well the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2pwtJmm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TJN-A website.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0Deadline for applications is\u00a0<\/span><b>Thursday 27 April 2017<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tax Justice Network &#8211; Africa in partnership with the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa invites suitably qualified African journalists to participate in an upcoming workshop on taxation, the extractives sector and the potential of Africa\u2019s mineral wealth to the continent\u2019s structural transformation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The training workshop is aimed at filling a critical gap in African journalism that looks intuitively and comprehensively at tax and issues around illicit financial flows on the continent. This training seeks to join the dots between mining, taxation and Africa\u2019s structural transformation.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshop will be hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg from 26 to 28 June 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The training workshop has the following objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To develop linkages between the extractives sector and tax justice.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To improve the understanding of African media practitioners and enable the journalists accurately and adequately report on tax, illicit financial flows, the extractives sector and the role of the Africa Mining Vision, the general tax justice agenda and their linkages to the broader structural transformation of African economies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This training also aims to link African journalists to experts and institutions as invaluable resources in future coverage of tax matters across the continent and beyond.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>KEY REQUIREMENTS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants should meet the following requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be a citizen of an African country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must have worked in an established African media outlet of any platform for at least 4 years as a reporter\/ editor.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have an expressed interest in covering tax and development issues<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently working or covering issues related to extractives sector in Africa<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previous experience in investigative journalism<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*This is purely for course development purposes and has no impact on the short-listing process.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fluency in English, both spoken and written.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Call for Applications:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interested journalists should send their applications, including CV and samples of work, to\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"mailto:communications@taxjusticeafrica.net\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TaxJusticeNetwork-Africa\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on or before Thursday, 27 April 2016.
