The Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and in Partnership with the Independent Commission for the Reforms International Corporate Taxation (ICRICT), the Tax Justice Network (TJN), the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation (FES) and the Global Alliance for Tax Justice (GATJ)<\/b>\u00a0are organising the 5th Pan African conference on Illicit Financial flows and Taxation. This build up previous similar annual conferences organised by TJN-A that seek to provide a forum for policy makers from Africa and beyond to articulate problems and propose solutions towards curbing illicit financial flows from Africa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PAC 2017 will seek to provide a platform to multiple stake holders and policy actors drawn from governments, CSOs, research and academia and other relevant players to deliberate on the emerging attempts to recast and reshape the IFFs narrative and methodology and what this would signify for the struggle against IFFs in Africa and more broadly for the implementation of the SDGs. The Conference will also provide opportunity to take stock of the success made so far and challenges facing African governments in their efforts to honour their commitments to stem IFFs through the implementation of the High Level Panel (HLP) recommendations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The discussions will contribute and feed into ongoing efforts by the Consortium to stem IFFs from Africa which was established as a follow up mechanism to support the implementation of the recommendations of the High Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa. The Panel\u2019s report was the single most important document underpinning the adoption of SDG target 16.4, to reduce IFF.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
