{"id":6590,"date":"2022-08-11T17:50:26","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T17:50:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltaxjustice.org\/?post_type=event&#038;p=6590"},"modified":"2022-08-11T17:50:26","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T17:50:26","slug":"illicit-economies-and-development-colloquium","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/globaltaxjustice.org\/es\/eventos\/illicit-economies-and-development-colloquium\/","title":{"rendered":"Illicit Economies and Development Colloquium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Website<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globaltaxjustice.org\/en\/events\/www.gla.ac.uk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.gla.ac.uk<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The School and the University, in partnership with the Global Partnership on Drug Policies and Development at Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, Open Society Foundations and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), is proud to host the International Colloquium,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.illicit2018.org\/%20\"><b>Addressing the Development Implications of Illicit Economies: a Cross-Sectoral and Cross-Disciplinary Exchange<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0The Colloquium will be held at SOAS, London, 19-21 April 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The themes of the conference are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working towards Sustainable Development Goal 16: the challenge of illicit economies to human rights, peace, security and justice<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Illicit economies from a historical perspective: learning contemporary lessons<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Understanding the gendered dimensions of illicit economies<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Illicit interactions with the state: corruption, protection rackets and the dynamics of violence<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022(Post)conflict contexts and illicit economies<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Surviving at the margins: guerrilla livelihoods, counterfeit medicines and the black market<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022The \u2018Migrant Crisis\u2019 and illicit economies: human smuggling and methods of survival<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Policy responses to drug production and trafficking in the Global South<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Alternative development in rural and urban settings: challenges in exiting the illicit economy<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Studying illicit economies: data, methodologies and indicators<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2022Money laundering and illicit money flows<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.illicit2018.org\/events-4\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">call for abstract submissions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is open and will close on\u00a0<\/span><b>Friday 23 March 2018<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You may submit more than one abstract if you wish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.illicit2018.org\/events-3\/%20\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Registration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0for the event is also open. An early bird fee of \u00a350 is available until 30 March.
