{"id":6636,"date":"2022-08-11T18:25:58","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T18:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltaxjustice.org\/?post_type=event&#038;p=6636"},"modified":"2022-08-11T18:25:58","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T18:25:58","slug":"africa-media-training-programme","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/globaltaxjustice.org\/es\/eventos\/africa-media-training-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Africa Media Training Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">media training<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0took place in June 2015, and this is now the fourth session to be held.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a special programme designed by Tax Justice Network Africa (TJN-A) to fill a critical gap, that is, to improve the understanding and reportage of African journalists as well as support them to investigate and adequately report on tax, domestic resource mobilisation, Illicit Financial Flows and the general tax justice agenda and its linkages to the broader structural transformation of African economies. It will also bridge the gulf between journalists and CSOs working on tax and domestic resource mobilisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first media training took place in June 2015, with the week-long workshop preceding the launch of the Africa-wide Stop the Bleeding campaign. 25 journalists from across Africa were trained on a variety of topics around tax issues by leading experts in the fields of tax and journalism, with the curriculum developed in conjunction with the School of Journalism from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is intended that this training take part every year and involve more members of the press, reaching more countries across Africa and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For more information, please contact TJNA&#8217;s\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"mailto:fnguegan@taxjusticeafrica.net\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Farah Nguegan<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first media training took place in June 2015, and this is now the fourth session to be held.
