The indaba will build upon efforts by Civil Society Organizations in previous years to create a space for dialogue where communities hosting mining projects, government and mining companies deliberate on the costs and benefits of mineral resource extraction to ensure a win-win situation for all stakeholders and the country at large.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 7th ZAMI will be held under the theme,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cOur Natural Resources, Our Future! Extraction for All, Putting Local Communities First\u201d\u00a0<\/b>and it will seek to create a space where stakeholders will propose practice, legislative and policy changes that will see the country and the communities benefit from natural resource extraction. This will be done by making use of local community testimonies, regional mining indabas discussions , research papers and academic student debates. The Indaba will once again bring together, mine host community members, government representatives, mining companies, traditional leaders, the church, leading academics and professional experts from a range of fields. The expected number of participants is 150.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are now inviting the submission of abstracts of not more than 1000 words that respond to the theme mentioned above. The deadline of submission is 5th May, 2018. The selected papers and their policy recommendations will form the basis of discussions at the ZAMI.<\/span><\/p>\n
