Oxfam and the FACT Coalition will host a forum to examine ways that offshore tax haven abuse drives economic inequality and undermines efforts to alleviate poverty in the U.S. and around the world. The event will correspond with the anticipated peak of the debate over changes to U.S. tax policy on capitol hill and discuss how proposed measures will address loopholes in the U.S. tax code that facilitate offshore tax haven abuse. A keynote speaker will offer perspective on policy changes the U.S. government should enact to address offshore tax haven abuse. A panel of experts will delve deeper into the issue’s impacts in the U.S. and abroad, suggest policy remedies, and analyze the effectiveness of proposed tax overhaul plans in reducing tax haven abuse.
