High-level discussion as part of the events taking place during the IMF/WB Annual Meetings.
This meeting will bring together experienced officials from a range of countries and experts from academia, international and regional organizations working on this field, and will offer the opportunity to share experiences on the technical challenges and solutions that countries face for taxing wealth. Discussions will focus on successful experiences in increasing the transparency of tax policy making and modernize tax administration procedures, including through a greater use of information technology and international cooperation, to reduce opportunities for corruption, tax avoidance and tax evasion.
The event will also include a final session on the WB-IMF Tax Policy Assessment Framework; a diagnostic framework that can be used to provide a systematic and structured assessment of a country’s tax policy system, and to develop options for improving the systems in the context of a set of policy objectives. The objective of this session is to have a showcasing and a discussion on the VAT module, as well as providing an overview of other modules under development and proposed indicators to assess international tax policy.
All attendees must register by Friday, October 6th to ensure the required security procedures are completed in a timely fashion in order to gain access to the World Bank Group building. You can register on the website.
