Towards these ends, the Global Alliance for Tax Justice (GATJ) and the Tax and Fiscal Justice-Asia (TAFJA), in collaboration with the Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD) and the Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) are organizing a regional conference in Asia on 20-22 June 2024 in Quezon City, Philippines with the following aims:
• To call on Governments in the Global South to persevere in their unity by overcoming divide and rule tactics
of the OECD countries and get through an ambitious ToR grounded in the principles of human rights and the
right to development
• To broaden the support for a UN tax convention in the CSO sector by bringing on board for the campaign
the wider CSO community fighting for diverse causes of justice and rights.
The conference will gather CSO representatives, thought leaders and experts from the academe and public sector in Asia, media practitioners, and resource persons from other Southern regions. The conference will include a Multi-stakeholders’ Forum to bring to the table various perspectives from diverse stakeholders. An Asia Strategy Workshop follows the forum, enabling the participants to collectively chart out the advocacy course. To bring on board the wider CSO community, particular attention will be given to reaching out to organizations beyond TAFJA”s members.
