The 10th anniversary edition of the Global Days of Action on Tax Justice for Women’s Rights saw tax justice campaigners, women’s rights organisations, grassroots movements, trade unions, and other civil society members join together to not only celebrate 10 years of collective activism for tax justice and gender equality but also to demand “Tax Justice for the Human Right to Care.”
Our shared demands
This year, we call for governments and policymakers to:
- Recognise Care as a Human Right and a Public Good
- Fairly Allocate Taxing Rights to Advance Global and Gender Justice
- Publicly Finance Care Through Progressive and Redistributive Taxation
- Tax the Rich and Multinationals
- Deliver A Feminist UN Tax Convention
- End Tax Secrecy

Highlights from the campaign
This year’s campaign included webinars, informal discussions, collective action over social media, videos from participants on each of the campaign demands, the launch of the third volume of the Framing Feminist Taxation Guide, and an official UN CSW side event organised by campaigners from around the world.

Campaign Launch: Tax Justice for the Human Right to Care
On Monday, March 2, 2026, GATJ, its regional networks, and partners from the Tax and GEnder Working Group came together to launch the campaign with a discussion on the connections between tax justice, gender equality, and the human right to care. With opening remarks from the Coordinator of the Tax and Gender Working Group, Maureen Mburu, and panelists from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, the event offered crucial insights into care systems, public financing, and the role of international tax systems in enabling gender equality through fair and equitable tax rules. Read more from the launch here.
Launch of Framing Feminist Taxation Volume 3
This year’s campaign also included the launch of the highly-anticipated third volume of the Framing Feminist Taxation Guide. In the webinar, we heard from the authors of the case studies included in the guide, who shared their findings from Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, the Philippines, and Senegal. Make sure to watch the webinar if you weren’t able to make it, read the report, and test your knowledge in this quiz.
Towards a feminist fiscal system: the negotiations for a UN Tax Convention
To close out the campaign, we gathered for a panel discussion on how the UN Tax Convention presents a unique opportunity to deliver a feminist fiscal system. Panelists discussed the fair allocation of taxing rights, taxation of multinationals and high net worth individuals, and financial secrecy as well as exploring how these issues affect gender equality and, most especially, the human right to care. See highlights from the closing webinar here.
Tax and Gender Working Group Members
Throughout the Global Days of Action campaign, members of GATJ’s Tax and Gender Working Group also highlighted the importance of the shared demands. Check out more from the members of the Working Group:
What comes next
The Global Days of Action on Tax Justice for Women’s Rights leads into the 70th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) where policymakers and civil society organisations will gather to discuss progress, set priorities, and identify the most pressing challenges to the rights of women and girls. Later this year in August, the Fifth Session of negotiations for the UN Tax Convention will take place in New York. It is crucial that we take the lessons and the demands from the Global Days of Action campaign with us this year to demand that policymakers and governments make our tax systems work for women and deliver on gender-transformative policies that fulfill the human right to care.
