The Tax and Fiscal Justice Asia reaches out to delegates representing governments from Asia at the negotiations for the UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation in an open letter released August 1, days before the resumption of negotiations August 3-13 in New York.

TAFJA is calling for substantive texts to operationalize the principles on the following:   

• Fair allocation of taxing rights across countries and Equitable Taxation of Multinational Enterprises;
• International Tax approaches that contribute to Sustainable Development;
• Effective Taxation of High Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs);
• Curbing harmful tax practices and illicit financial flows through stronger transparency and accountability mechanisms;
• Introducing a new and separate article on Tax and Extractives; and
•  Intergovernmental mechanism for global tax governance that is genuinely inclusive, democratic, transparent, accountable, under the auspices of the UN.
